YBhg. Datuk Ir. Ahmad Fauzi bin Hasan was appointed as a Member of SEDA on 1st October 2017. Effective 16th July 2018, he is also the Acting Chairman of SEDA. He was also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Energy Commission of Malaysia from April 2010 until June 2017. Prior to the CEO position, he has held several positions after joining the Energy Commission in 2002, namely as Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Director.
Before joining the Energy Commission, he has also served in the Department of Electricity and Gas Supply (1999-2001), the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (1994-1998) and the Factories and Machinery Department (1978-1994).
He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia with over 38 years of industry regulatory experience. His experience includes regulating and developing the technical, economic, safety and sustainability aspects of the electricity and gas supply industries. During his tenure as the CEO of the Energy Commission he has overseen the development and implementation of several successful reform initiatives to improve the economic and technical performance of the electricity and piped gas supply industries.
He has been actively involved with government agencies as well as industry associations and professional institutions in advising on the development and implementation of energy sector policy frameworks, plans and standards as well as in capacity building initiatives. He speaks regularly on energy sector regulatory developments, challenges and prospects as well as energy industry best practices and sustainability initiatives at local and international forums.
He is currently the President of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) National Committee of Malaysia, Chairman (non-executive) of the Atomic Energy Licencing Board of Malaysia (AELB), Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and Adjunct Professor at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). He is also a recipient of the “ASEAN Excellence in Energy Management by Individual Awards” during the 35th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting in 2017.
YBhg. Datuk Ir. Ahmad Fauzi received his Ordinary National Diploma in Engineering from Norwich City College, England (1975); Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), England (1978); and his Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan, United States of America (1983).
He has also attended various professional training programmes, including on industrial major hazard control organized by International Labour Organisation (ILO), advanced management development by Asian Institute of Management (2004) and INTAN-Harvard (2009), as well as utility regulation and strategy by University of Florida (2009). Today, YBhg Datuk Ir Ahmad Fauzi is also the Chairman of the Energy Commission and the Acting Chairman of SEDA.
YB Rajiv Rishyakaran was appointed as a Member of SEDA Malaysia on 2nd August 2018. He attended Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn, Johor, and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering specialising in Instrumentation & Controls. Presently, YB Rajiv is the State Assemblyman (Legislator) for Bukit Gasing, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, a position which he has held since the year of 2013.
YB Rajiv’s areas of interest are water supply industry, town planning, affordable housing and improving public transportation. He oversees and makes recommendations on the water treatment plant’s handling of river pollution and new raw water catchment projects undertaken by the state government. YB Rajiv has a huge interest in town planning in which he is actively advocating in proposals to amend the city’s masterplan and to have more new pedestrian walkways in Petaling Jaya.
YB Rajiv was the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) City Councillor from July 2009 to April 2013 in which he introduced compulsory shop corridor lighting, in line with safe city initiatives and set up Recycling, Composting & Garbage Separation policy – the first garbage separation and collection scheme by a local council in the country.
YB Rajiv was a Member & Advisor to TRANSIT a non-governmental organisation (NGO) who heavily promoting the betterment of public transportation in Malaysia, especially in the Klang Valley. YB Rajiv has been actively involved in this organisation from the year 2008 to 2013 and he has made notable presentations to Ketua Setiausaha Negara (KSN), the Prime Minister’s Department, the Chief Minister of Selangor, various Members of Parliament, State Assemblymen & City Councillors within the Klang Valley area to improve the quality of public transportation system in Malaysia.
YBhg. Tan Sri Dato' Academician (Dr.) Ts. Ahmad Zaidee Bin Laidin, FASc was appointed as a member of Sustainable Energy Development Authority with effect from 1 February 2015.
He holds a Master in Science in Technological Economies (Management & Industrial Science), University of Stirling and is a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. Careerwise, he was an engineer in Lembaga Letrik Negara/Tenaga Nasional for 24 years. Subsequently, he was appointed as Director (1994), Rector,(1996) and the first Vice-Chancellor (1999) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Professionally, he is a practising Electrical Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, as well as Academy of Sciences Malaysia and is currently serving in the councils of both bodies. He is the Past President of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Southeast Asia and the Pacific (FEISEAP) and a Past President of Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) as well as the Senior Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
Academically, he is a Council Member of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and a Board Member of Open University Malaysia and Meteor Learning Sdn. Bhd. He is also Chairman and Director of Malay Education and Development Research Institute, an NGO. He also serves on the Board of UNITEN. He was awarded the Degree of Doctor of the University by University of Stirling, the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology by Oxford Brookes University, and the Honorary Doctor of Letters by the Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as Honorary Professor of Napier University, United Kingdom. He was also awarded the Degree of Honorary Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from UiTM.
He was appointed Councillor of Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (2000-2002), Chairman of SIRIM Berhad (2001-2004), and Chairman of Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) (2005-2007). He was appointed to Chairman of the Board of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka in 2010.
He is currently a Board member YLI Holdings Berhad. He is also on the Board of Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir & Terowong Sdn Bhd (SMART) and Chairman of ERINCO Sdn. Bhd.
YBrs. Mr. Ravi Muthayah was appointed as a Member of SEDA Malaysia on 15th December 2018. Presently, he is the Deputy Secretary General (Commodities), under the Ministry of Primary Industries.
Previously, he held the position of Director of Manufacturing Industry, Science and Technology Section from 2016 to 2018. His experience includes reviewing existing agriculture policies as well as formulating new policies for the medium to long term development in ensuring sustainability of the agriculture sector and industry.
Mr. Ravi has held several positions in the government sector. Under the Economic Planning Unit specifically under the Agriculture section, he served as Director (2013- 2016), Deputy Director (2008 - 2013) and Principal Assistant Director (2003-2008). Mr. Ravi also served as Principal Assistant Director (2001 – 2003) and Assistant Director (1999 – 2001) under the Intellectual Property Division, the Ministry of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs. He also served as Assistant Secretary, Tax Analysis & Policy Division under the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia from 1989 to1995.
He graduated from the University of Malaya in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. He then expanded his qualifications by earning a Diploma from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) in 1989. He proceeded to obtain his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Kobe in 1999.
He was also appointed as a Board Member of SME Corp. Malaysia, the Malaysia Cocoa Board, the Malaysian Pepper Board and Malaysian Timber Industry Board.
YBrs. Mr. Asdirhyme Abdul Rasib was appointed as an Authority Member of SEDA Malaysia on 15th January 2019. He graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with a Bachelor of Science (Science) Nuclear Science in 1996. He was appointed to the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1998 before furthering his studies in Master of Science (Technology Management and Policy) at University of Malaya in 2003.
Presently, he is a Senior Under Secretary (Green Technology) under the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change (MESTECC) and responsible in the formulation and implementation of policies, programmes and projects related to green technology.
En. Asdirhyme has served various ministries and agencies. In 1997, he served as an Assistant Director under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and his responsibilities include promotion and awareness of science, technology and innovation at the national and state levels. In 2004, he joined the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister's Office under the Manufacturing Industry, Science and Technology and his role was to assist the coordination, strategic planning and projects implementation of science, technology and innovation initiatives under the Malaysia Plan.
In 2010, he entered the Cross Fertilization Program (PCF) and served as Senior Deputy Director under the Kuala Lumput City Hall where he planned and coordinated the programmes/projects development, overseeing the Bumiputra Housing Quota and small-scale assistance projects for the community. In April 2011, he took the post of Under Secretary for Regulatory and Development Green Technology Sector under the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) where he was involved in the planning and coordination of green SMEs development, promotion and awareness towards green lifestyle, green financing and low-carbon township.
En. Asdirhyme attended various professional training programmes, including the Green Climate Finance Programme, Singapore (2014) , the 2nd Green Investment Financing Forum (GIFF), Paris, France (2015) as well as the World Conference on Science and Technology Parks, International Association of Science Parks (IASP), Barcelona, Spain (2007).
