YBrs. Ir. Dr. Sanjayan Velautham was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of SEDA effective of 9th January 2019.
He has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, international organisation, an academia and research institutes. A professional engineer (P.Eng.) with a doctoral degree in Engineering and a Senior Member at the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia. He is also an Advisory Board Member for the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC), Japan. Maintains a mix of appointments and engagements in several countries within the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, working with decision makers in government, academia, industry and civil society.
Prior to his present appointment he was the Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Energy in Indonesia. He had started his career at Tenaga Nasional Bhd. (TNB) in Malaysia within the Power Generations Division, including several years as an Assoc. Prof. at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He had moved to Singapore in 2008 initially as the Deputy Director with the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), and then with General Electric as Region Manager for the Power Generation Services business. He had also served as the National Project Manager for the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP Malaysia) BioGen Project.
Ir. Dr. Sanjayan has authored several publications in international journals/ books and subject modules particularly in the field of energy. His interest among others is to continue to engage in the strategy and policy research related to sustainable energy development within the region.
Dr Chen was appointed as Chief Corporate Officer of SEDA on 1st October 2011. She was the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SEDA from 2nd August 2018 until 8th January 2019. Dr. Wei-nee Chen holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Prior to returning to Malaysia, Dr. Wei-nee was in New Zealand for 14 years serving in the banking, insurance, freezing, and health industries in various cities in New Zealand.
From 2005-2010, Dr. Wei-nee served in the capacity of a Technical Advisor in the Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic (MBIPV) Project; a project administered by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water Malaysia with support from Global Environment Facility through United Nations Development Program. Her role in the MBIPV project was to spearhead the awareness and capacity development of grid-connected solar PV systems in the country. From January 2011 to September 2011, Dr. Wei-nee was a member of interim SEDA under the same Ministry. Dr Wei-nee was involved in the development of subsidiary legislations under the Renewable Energy Act 2011 [Act 725], the ICT framework of the e-FiT online system, and strategizing the communications on the Feed-in Tariff.
She is also the Malaysian representative for Task 1 (Strategic PV Analysis & Outreach) of the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (IEA PVPS). Dr Wei-nee is a climate change advocator focusing on sustainable energy strategies to mitigate climate change and its negative impact. From 2015-2016, she was actively involved in the Practitioners Dialogue on Climate Investments organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ). Specifically in 2016, she contributed as an Advisor to the Working Group on Implementing Climate Resilience Measures in Industry. Dr Wei-nee is also a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Councils on Advanced Energy Technologies for the 2018-2019 term.
Pn. Azah Ahmad obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Ohio State University, USA 1998 and Master of Science in Energy Technology from UKM in 2004. She has extensive years of working experience in energy efficiency and renewable energy. She was the focal point representing Malaysia for the ASEAN Energy Efficiency & Sub-sector Network from 2003 to 2005 and a Technical Committee member on Performance of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances, SIRIM during her tenure with Pusat Tenaga Malaysia. In 2005, she joined the Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic (MBIPV) Project, a project funded by the Government of Malaysia and UNDP/ GEF. She is a certified ISPQ PV installer by the International for Sustainable Power (ISP). Her main role was to manage BIPV systems installations within the MBIPV project including designing, checking system design by the service provider, supervising up to commissioning. From January to September 2011, she was part of the Interim SEDA team.
Ts. Steve Anthony Lojuntin currently the Head of Energy Demand Management Unit, which responsible on the planning, implementation and monitoring of activities and programs related to energy management initiatives under SEDA Malaysia.
He received an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Malaya in 1997, an energy manager by practice and a qualified Green Building Index Facilitator (GBIF) and committee member of the Malaysia Energy Professional Association (MEPA).
He started his carrier as IT system engineer for TELEKOM’s MSC test-bed project and later as mechanical engineer designer with Majutek Perunding Sdn Bhd. He also has working experiences with various local and international leading energy management organisations such as Malaysian Green Technology Corporation @ GreenTech Malaysia (formerly known as Pusat Tenaga Malaysia), ECO Energy Sdn Bhd, Danish International Development Assistance (DANIDA) and Gagasan Sentral Sdn Bhd. He involved in various type of energy management services such as conducting energy audits in commercials & industrials, providing energy managers training, assisting on energy efficient design inputs, energy management & control system, retrofitting, re-commissioning & fine tuning/stabilising building services, energy performance & monitoring, operation & maintenance, low carbon green building, low carbon cities programme, green ICT, green technology, etc.
He had experience working fulltime at the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology & Water (KeTTHA) as the Local Technical Advisor (Energy Design Consultant) with DANIDA for the KeTTHA’s Low Energy Office Building project in Putrajaya, had been involved in the development of the GreenTech Malaysia Green Energy Office (GEO) (formerly known as Pusat Tenaga Malaysia Building Zero Energy Office – PTM ZEO building) in Bangi and experience in providing technical assistance to Public Works Department (JKR) on energy efficient design improvement of public buildings in Malaysia. In 2010 he had lead the development of KeTTHA’s Green Township Programme, Low Carbon Cities Framework (LCCF) and CIDB’s Construction Industry Standard (CIS) 20, GreenPASS.
He also actively involved in several government agencies technical committee such CIDB, Green ICT Committee (Malaysia Communications & Multimedia Commission) Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK-MOHR) as NOSS panel expert reviewer, Building Services Energy Efficiency Project (BSEEP-JKR-UNDP), SIRIM’s standard committee.
En. Mohd Hafiz Mohd Suib holds an honour degree in Accountancy from the University Putra of Malaysia in 1999 and a Registered Accountant with Malaysia Institute of Accountant (MIA). He has over 10 years of accounting and finance experience in managing Renewable Energy programme mainly with Biomass, Biogas and Solar PV Project. In 2002, Mohd Hafiz joined Biomass based Power Generation in the Malaysian Palm Oil Industry (BioGen) Project, a Renewable Energy collaboration project between United Nations Development Programme and Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water as a Finance Officer. In 2006, he moved to Malaysian Building Integrated Photovolatic (MBIPV) Project and was responsible for finance and account of the project. Prior to joining SEDA Malaysia in 2011, he was part of the Interim SEDA team which involved in the process of drafting of the RE Act 2011 and SEDA Act 2011 and also setting up the office of SEDA Malaysia. As a Finance Director, he is responsible to the finance and account of the SEDA Malaysia Fund and Renewable Energy Fund and has been instrumental in the establishing of the Finance Division at SEDA Malaysia.
Pn. Nor Radhiha Mohd Ali graduated in 2017 from Open University Malaysia with a Master of Human Resource Management,1996 from Universiti Utara Malaysia with a Bachelor Degree (Hons) in Business Administration and a Diploma in Marketing from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin. She has extensive years of working experiences serving in areas such as administration, marketing, human resource, etc. In 2000, she joined Pusat Tenaga Malaysia (now known as Malaysia Green Technology Corporation) as an Office Executive and from there she was exposed to energy related projects and activities. Later she joined the Corporate Affairs and Business Development Unit as Human Resource Executive for another two (2) years. In 2005, she was offered to be a Senior Officer in the Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic (MBIPV) Project, a solar PV supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF), the project was implemented by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology & Water (KeTTHA) Malaysia via the MBIPV Project team. The objective of the project was to promote widespread and sustainable application of grid-connected photovoltaic systems in buildings. She was in-charge of administrating the ISPQ PV training, organising events relating to PV, subsuming IT roles such as updating the website as well as administrating email accounts and coordinating the Approved PV Service Providers (APVSP) programme. At the end of the MBIPV tenure, in 2011, she was part of Interim SEDA team (under KeTTHA) and was directly responsible for SEDA’s office renovation and administrative preparation as well as in all aspects of human resource activities including recruitment, selection, establishment of HR policies, and office administrations. Puan Radhiha’s proficiency in SEDA Act 2011 [Act 726] and past record earned her a position today as a Director of HR & Administration in SEDA.
En. Roslan has over 20 years’ of hands-on experience in the corporate sector providing leadership and strategic counsel on corporate communications and marketing best practices to executives.
His vast achievements include proven excellence in creating and executing Public Relations and Marketing strategies with maximized results for some of the most recognizable organization in the country, spanning a variety of industries that includes Telecommunications, Government Services, Retails, Engineering and Media.
Prior to assuming the current position, his communication career portfolio includes roles as Head of Corporate Communication at SELIA Group, Director of Corporate Communication at Ministry of Plantation, Industries and Commodities, Head of Marcom at TM Sales & Services and Head of Advertising and Promotion at Radio Rediffusion.
En. Roslan is a graduate of the University Technology MARA and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art & Design.
En. Hazril Izan Bahari obtained his Bachelor of Information Technology from Open University Malaysia 2011 and Master of Information Technology from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) in 2018. He completed his master in the area of Green Data Center and published a paper in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
He was also a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) alumni after having completed the Network Specialist Coursework at JICA Okinawa in 2006. En Hazril has over 15 years of working experience in data centers and network operation, and is a Certified Ethical Hacker. Prior to joining SEDA, he served the Ministry of Energy, Water and Green Technology (KeTTHA) until 2011.
He was involved in developing the first green data center in government at KeTTHA. En. Hazril was part of the pioneering team in SEDA Malaysia developing its ICT infrastructure as well as being involved in the development of the e-FiT online system since commencing his tenure in SEDA Malaysia in September 2011. As an ICT Director, he is responsible to manage and advance the ICT technology in SEDA Malaysia. He is also actively participating in the ICT fraternity to develop the ICT standard especially relating to energy efficiency.
Pn. Rosma Wati graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia with a Bachelor (Hons) in Chemical Engineering in 2002 and holds a MSc. in Human Resource Management from Cardiff University. She joined the Public Service in 2005 as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer and is currently on secondment to SEDA Malaysia as Head of Special Unit, CEO’s Office.
Prior to joining SEDA Malaysia, Pn. Rosma has served in various Ministries including Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), [both KeTTHA and MOSTI is currently known as MESTECC], the Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Higher Education.
She has been involved in various policy development activities and socio-economy implementation projects throughout her 13 years in Public Service.
Pn. Mazliana Mazlan graduated from University Technology MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) – LL.B (Hons.) in 2008. She was formerly a Legal Officer at the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) who has served few government departments namely Department of Director General of Lands and Mines and Malaysia Department of Insolvency since 2008.
Prior to joining SEDA Malaysia, she served as Legal Advisor/Senior Federal Counsel at the Department of Director General of Lands and Mines (Federal). As the Head of Legal Unit, she was responsible to provide legal advice to the Director of General of Lands and Mines and Federal Land Commissioner in wide area of laws. Other roles under her purview includes vetting agreements, represent the Department in civil cases involving the Department as Plaintiff and drafting the amendment of main and subsidiary legislation under the Department. Amongst the amendment of legislation that she was directly involved are the National Land Code, the Strata Titles Act 1985, the Land Acquisition Act 1960, the Small Estate (Distribution) Act 1955 and the Federal Lands Commissioner Act 1957.
Mr. Koh Keng Sen graduated from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical/ Electronic) majoring in Electrical Power. On 4th March 2019, he assumed the role of Acting Director of the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) Division. Amongst his roles are carrying out specific functions to manage the Feed-in Tariff Mechanism, Renewable Energy fund plus conducting periodic review and proposing amendments to existing RE policies and guidelines.
Prior to joining SEDA Malaysia, Mr. Koh served as Assistant Manager (Technical & Construction) from Powertek Berhad whereby he carried out specific functions of project development, implementation including conducting technical due diligence, techno economic studies, reviewing /drafting project contracts (PPA, EPC, O&M). Mr. Koh has also served Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia's largest publicly traded power company from 2003 until 2008 holding 2 positions which are; Project and Planning Engineer and Operation & Maintenance Engineer.
Mr. Koh has been here in the Authority since 2012 and his extensive knowledge in pioneering the RE industry in Malaysia is a huge advantage to SEDA Malaysia.
